EIC Lobbyists Prevail- Chapter Amendments have been passed
Re: Village Incorporation Chapter Amendments
As we feared, our elected representatives, Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Amy Paulin, have failed to respond to the needs of the majority of the residents in Greenburgh. They have listened solely to a few wealthy residents of the Edgemont section and ignored those who reside in the remainder of the Town, both within and outside of the Edgemont section.
The Chapter Amendments to the newly enacted updated Village Incorporation laws, a portion of which is specifically crafted to benefit only those who wish to incorporate a village of Edgemont, have been passed by both the state Senate and Assembly and will be forwarded to the Governor for signature. As there is no precedent for a veto of negotiated chapter amendments, these bills will become law when signed.
The Town Board has already passed a resolution to hire a renowned attorney to file litigation to stop implementation of the poorly crafted, exclusionary sections of the new law. In light of the passage of the Chapter Amendments, we call upon the Town Board to move forward expeditiously with the lawsuit.
