The issue

We, the concerned members, families, and supporters of Maroochy Beach Gymnastics Association Inc., are calling for urgent action to address serious and ongoing issues within the club’s leadership. A formal requisition will be submitted to the Club Secretary requesting a Special General Meeting to table a Vote of No Confidence in the current Club President, Brooke Killorancole, and Club Vice President Berni Marshall, in accordance with the Association's Contitution.

This action has become necessary due to a pattern of behaviour and decisions by the President and Vice President that members believe are harmful, unethical, and damaging to the wellbeing of coaches, gymnasts, and the overall integrity of the club.

Key Concerns:

1. Decline in Workplace Culture & Member Wellbeing

  • Multiple senior and highly respected coaches have taken leave due to alleged bullying, micro-management, and a toxic work environment.
  • Coaches and gymnasts report deteriorating mental health and wellbeing.
  • Formal concerns about bullying have repeatedly been ignored.
  • A pervasive culture of intimidation has emerged under the current leadership.

2. Work Health & Safety Failures & Interference in Training

  • Unreasonable work conditions have raised serious Work Health and Safety concerns.
  • The President frequently enters the training floor in a confrontational manner, disrupting sessions and breaching professional boundaries.
  • Planning meetings affecting athletes have been held without their coaches present, despite parent requests—blocking appropriate communication.

3. Discrimination & Unfair Member Treatment

  • Members, including long-standing gymnasts, have been removed from the club without valid justification.
  • One deeply concerning case involves discriminatory treatment of an autistic gymnast who had trained with the club for several years.

4. Governance, Compliance Issues & Conflicts of Interest

  • The Annual General Meeting has not been held within the required constitutional timeframe.
  • The President has appointed paid positions for herself and her immediate family despite being in a volunteer role, raising major conflict-of-interest concerns.
  • Evidence of unfair favouritism includes excessive coaching hours granted to her son, while similar requests for other athletes have been denied.
  • The President is overseeing her own re-election process without transparent or appropriate checks and balances.
  • The President has held office since 2019 without meaningful consultation or feedback from coaches or members.

What We Are Calling For

We are seeking member support for the resolution:

“That the members pass a vote of no confidence in the Club President, Brooke Killorancole, and Club Vice President Berni Marshall and remove them from office in accordance with Rule 10.3.3 of the Association’s Constitution.”

Our goal is simple: to restore transparency, safety, fairness, and integrity within Maroochy Beach Gymnastics Association so that gymnasts, families, and coaches can train and work in a positive, supportive, and ethically governed environment.

We urge all members of the Maroochy Beach Gymnastics community to stand with us by supporting this petition and calling for the leadership change necessary to protect the future of our club.

Please help us create positive change by sharing this petition with other concerned members of Maroochy Beach Gymnastics.
