VOICES BEYOND BORDERS — MY CAMPAIGN FOR CHANGE
I’m starting this campaign, Voices Beyond Borders, after my own experience of treatment in the airport, police station and mental health hospital in Turkey, where I was treated very badly. I was locked in police cell for three days with no food or medication, brutally beaten and then thrown in a mental health facility for four weeks and continued to be beaten whilst been injected with god knows what!

I want to raise awareness of people’s experiences with mental health treatment abroad and call for better protection, accountability, and compassion for those who are at their most vulnerable.
People deserve dignity. They deserve safety. They deserve to be treated with respect, regardless of where they are in the world. Having a mental health condition should never mean that someone’s voice, feelings, or basic human rights are ignored.
I’m speaking out because I know how important it is to be heard, especially when you’ve been through something that has affected you deeply. I want people who have experienced similar treatment abroad to know that they are not alone and that their experiences matter.
This campaign is about giving people a voice. It’s about raising awareness, listening without judgment, and calling for meaningful change so that other people don’t have to feel that nobody is listening to them.
I want to encourage people who have experienced poor treatment in mental health facilities abroad to come forward and share their stories if they feel comfortable doing so. You do not have to share your name or personal details. Your privacy and safety matter.
My goal is to build a community, raise public awareness, and call on the relevant authorities to look seriously at how people receiving mental health treatment abroad are protected and how concerns about their care can be investigated.
I am starting with my voice, but I hope that, together, we can create something much bigger.
Please follow, share, and support this campaign. If you’ve experienced something similar, you deserve to be heard. If you know someone who has, please help spread the word.
Let’s stand together for dignity, compassion, accountability, and better protection for everyone receiving mental health care abroad.
Our voices matter. Our experiences matter. And change must begin with someone being brave enough to speak.

My aim is to help people feel less alone, encourage people to speak up about their experiences and promote better awareness of patient rights and compassionate mental-health care. I would like to make a bangle that states mental health for people travelling abroad and get this known world wide. I would like this to reach as many people as possible, because what happened to me should never happen to someone else again.
Every contribution, no matter how small, can help this campaign grow. If you cannot donate, sharing the campaign or signing my petition is just as appreciated!
