The Nenet ethnic group is composed by nomads who live in northen Russia, near the Artic circle. Because of global warming and the endangerment of their land, their life and culture is at risk. They lived in the Artic for thousands of years, where they developed their traditions according to nature. But now they’re endangered by gas extractions’ industries (like Gazcom), which causes pollution and even explosions, basically destroying the environment of the Arctic circle, killing animals and plants.

These companies exploit and ruin the home of the Nenet, and the Russian government doesn’t help this ethnic group, in fact the government helps the companies to further destroy the ecosystem and this people.

What did this industries gave to the Nenet? Not enough money and technologies (like phones and computers) which are not useful to them. They want to keep their lifestyle and be able to keep their home safe. They want respect.

Children of the Nenet ethnic group are forced to go to school and leave their parents and their language. Only 50% of those children will return to their tribe, the others will leave permanently their culture, trying to fit into a more modern society.

I want to end all of this, asking to the Russian government, in particular to President Putin, to give more rights to Nenets and to stop the excavations on their land. This can cause an enviromental disaster. Together, we can stop this social and environmental injustice.
