Thank you for signing this petition. The 2021 Virginia General Assembly has begun and Delegate Nancy Guy has (again) introduced a bill (HB2159) to ban intentional balloon releases in Virginia. You can read and track the bill here: https://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?211+sum+HB2159.

The balloon release bill, HB2159, has been assigned to the Natural Resources sub-committee of the House Agriculture, Chesapeake and Natural Resources Committee for its first vote tomorrow morning at 7 am. If it passes, it will go on to the full committee, then to the full House. If it makes it through the House, it will move on to the Senate. Here are a few ways you can make your voices heard by these Committees:

Please call your Virginia State delegate and express your support for the balloon release bill HB2159. If you don’t know who your representatives are, you can visit this website and enter your address: https://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov/. 

There is an easy to use, online comment form if you would like to express your support of the bill in a written comment:  https://hodspeak.house.virginia.gov/committees/H01/bill_feedback. Go to this page, scroll down until you find the bill: HB2159 Guy, check the box, and then click next. Your comments don't have to be long, but they are important!
