Please keep sharing and a quick update on media reporting Virgin's new policy

Hello Thank you so much for signing my petition to stop Virgin Trains from drastically increasing their off peak railcard fares. I am currently on 811 signatures which is amazing after less than a week! I need to ask you for one more favour, please can you share this petition as far and wide as possible: on Facebook, Twitter, with your friends and family as the only way we are going to be able to force Virgin Trains to change their decision is by continuing to build public opposition. And today the Guardian and Mail Online have run story about the Virgin fare increases in their financial section, so it's definitely getting noticed but we need to kerp up the pressure! I cannot stress the urgency of this situation and I passionately urge you to get as many people as you can to sign it. The news of Virgin’s policy change is now being brought to the forefront of media attention. The MP for Manchester Central, Lucy Powell has called for an “urgent review” into the situation. I suggest anyone who is reading this to also write to their MP and tell them how this will have a detrimental effect on your situation. It’s crucial to remember that in 2012, Virgin lost their contract to run the West-Coast train line. Following a huge outcry from the company, they sent an e-petition signed by many to the Department of Transport and pledged 50 reasons why they should be re-awarded the contract to have their trains on the West Coast line. Point 29 of why they should be picked, in their words is: “We’re the only company that offers deals for customers with railcards during peak time travel”. They therefore, should not have exploited this point in order to win back the contract only to go back on their promise three years later. If we get enough people to sign this petition, it will highlight that a great many of the public feel Virgin need to be held accountable for their actions. We cannot let Virgin Trains jeopardise people’s jobs if they can no longer afford the commute. I’ve been speaking to many people whose next two weeks will be filled with the prospect of having to potentially look for a new job closer to home. In my petition I quote how much my rail fare is going up to £86 return a day but for many people it is even more absurd; a daily commute from Nuneaton to London Euston is going from £28.10 to £97, whilst a return from Birmingham to London is will now set you back £110.90 as opposed to the original £34.10 cost.
