It’s time to Permit Pets In Cabins on Australian Planes
The issue
OUR PETS ARE OUR FAMILY. They should be treated and cared for as such.
Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority have decided to relax the rules on having Pets on board planes, in the cabins alongside their owners. So as of December 2nd 2021 they will allow the final decision to be made by pilots and individual airlines on whether to let your pet/s on board or to keep them stored in cargo with the luggage, alone.
PROBLEMS WITH PETS IN CARGO - Not only are the conditions in cargo where luggage is thrown in, scary, and intimidating for our loved pets, there are many cases where the animals have been severely distress, have died during the flight from shock, and some have actually been lost by the airlines…. Read the many articles.
PRESUMED PROBLEMS WITH PETS IN CABINS -
- Pets are noisey - we have accommodated to noise from babies and children we can adjust to this also.
- Wot if a pet poops or pees in their cage - Humans fart, babies poop in their nappies & we deal with it rarionally. We can take our pet cage to the toilet and clean it there safely while the door is locked, the pet is on a leash, and the cage is minimally opened just enough to dot ur hand in to clean.
- Pets may not get along - just as in Europe and the US they do not fill their planes with pets with every passenger, they have a maximum allowance of pets on each plane and they space out that seating.
- Some people are allergic to pets - the airlines could make permanent allocations for pet seats and online in those seats it can say may be booked for a pet/or is booked for a cat (if confirmed) so upon a person with pet allergies choosing their seat online they can see seat 22A has a cat, seat 7C has a dog, I will select a seat in a different spot.
- Animals carry diseases - Humans carry diseases, we are all aware of that impact. Airlines may state you are required present a vet document showing positive results that your pet has no contagious diseases before your pet is permitted on the plane.
We need to band together and push these airlines to make a decision based on current times, and our current needs and wants.
Our pets are not an afterthought, not replaceable, not objects, they are members of our family, who provide us with emotional support, care, and so they too should be treated as VALUABLE PASSENGERS NOT AS REPLACEABLE GARGO.
So far Qantas and Jetstar have said NO which I believe is a bad business decision (but perhaps not a final one with enough voices) Virgin Australia are currently considering the idea, and Rex Airlines are yet to decide.
We need to start petitioning now in case they decide earlier DECEMBER 2nd 2021
- Which airline has the best business foresight…..?
- Which airline will reign….?
LETS DO THIS, LETS PUSH HARD, AND LOUD.
Use your socials, your blogs, your vlogs, your media, radio, tv, YouTube, TikTok, email blast these companies…. and Sir Richard Branson.
Tag them in everything.
