Schaumburg is banning Christmas displays that have arches over the sidewalk and lights in parkway trees. Many of these displays are by long time residents who have participated yearly in the village's Christmas light display contest. These displays have provided joy and a sense of tradition for many who come to view and participate in the yearly displays.

The Village of Schaumburg should not ban these displays. If the main concern is loose cords on sidewalks, they can simply create requirements for how cords should be managed in these displays and require a permit for them.

If the Village of Schaumburg listens to its residents who what these displays to continue, they will work on the permit/requirement solution.

If the Village of Schaumburg ignores its residents, we will lose a traditional joy of having awesome, interactive Christmas displays that people can walk through.
