Reduce Traffic on Local Streets

The Issue

We are seeking to end traffic cutting through our local streets (Checker/Schaeffer) during rush hours. A traffic study from October 1-3 on Scaheffer counted 1,333 vehicles during the morning rush hour (6am-10am) and 612 vehicles during the afternoon rush hour (3pm-7pm). The study also found that "the average speed for all classified vehicles was 35 MPH with 97.79% vehicles exceeding the posted speed of 25 MPH" and 90 vehicles in excess of 45 MPH.

This study is important as it reinforces the need for stricter traffic enforcement through any means necessary; no-turn signs between hours, radar-based speed signs, speed cameras, or active law enforcement. The largest concern is for the safety of children at bus stops along these streets from the amount of traffic, excess speeds of traffic and failures to stop.

We ask for your attendance with Village officials on Tuesday, October 15 at 11:30 at Village Hall. If you are unable to attend, please consider signing this petition in lieu of appearing.
