Firstly thank you all for your support. I really do appreciate your support.

The lift was due to open at Viking Bay Broadstairs on 170721 after the great work put in by the engineers. However safety comes first so slight delay until resolved. Sadly no update re Ramsgate lift yet. So the lift at Viking will open for the summer but my petition will continue until we get the lift to open permanently for the year.

Important update re lift reopening at Viking Bay

This afternoon, our lift repair contractors ran some very final checks ahead of the planned reopening tomorrow. We are very sorry to announce that during the final inspection our contractors encountered an issue with the doors that requires further checks to be carried out. As a result we are going to have to delay the long awaited reopening, until they are satisfied that it is safe to do so. We hope that issue will be resolved and we will be able to get the lift open again as soon as possible. However it will not be open this weekend.

Our sincere apologies for having announced we would be ready to open, particularly as some of you will have made plans for the weekend on the basis that the lift would be working. We understand that this will be disappointing news.

Good news! The Viking Bay lift has now been restored and will be open to the public from tomorrow, Saturday 17 July, in time for the summer holidays.

We know how valued this lift is to the local community, ensuring that our beautiful Viking Bay is accessible to all. �
