Hi everyone,
We have an important update, and it is great news!
Little League Baseball has updated its 2026 playing rules language to permit the use of thumb protectors. The updated wording also clarifies that bat add-ons such as choke-knobs and choke-up assists are not permitted.
This is exactly what our petition asked for: clear, accurate rules that recognize a thumb protector is protective equipment worn on the player’s thumb, not something that alters the bat.
Thank you
This change happened because thousands of you spoke up for player safety, common sense, and clear rules. Thank you for signing, sharing, and pushing this forward.
What happens next
We will continue encouraging leagues to focus on player safety and to avoid confusion between protective gear and bat alterations.
Quick favor
Please share this update with your local league, coaches, and baseball parent groups. The more people see the clarification, the less confusion there will be heading into 2026.
Wishing everyone a great season!
With sincere thanks,
