Victoria’s Roads Are in Crisis — 6 Weeks of Questions. Still No sign of a plan..

Election Coming Up. No Surprises Here — Politicians from Every Party Are Promising Millions to Fix Victoria’s Roads. But Without a Plan, They’re Just Bullshit Promises from point scoring polititians.

On Sunday, more than 3,000 people gathered outside Victorian Parliament to demand action on the appalling condition of our roads.

It was an extraordinary turnout, and the organisers deserve enormous credit for putting this issue so firmly on the public agenda.

Meanwhile, more than 5,000 Victorians have now signed this petition.

So there can be little doubt about the level of public concern.

And, with a Victorian election approaching, there is suddenly no shortage of politicians wanting to talk about roads.

We are hearing promises from across the political spectrum. Millions of dollars. Hundreds of millions. Billions. More repairs. More crews. More maintenance.

Good. Victoria desperately needs the investment.

But here's the problem.

How are they actually going to spend it?
For weeks, this petition has been asking a very simple set of questions.

Which roads are going to be fixed?

Which sections are the highest priority — and why?

What work will actually be undertaken?

When will it start, and when will it be finished?

How will the money be allocated across Victoria?

What measurable improvement are we supposed to see?

And where can Victorians track whether these promises are actually being delivered?

Sunday's rally generated enormous attention. The Premier reportedly spoke directly with the organisers. Opposition politicians attended and spoke. Funding commitments and promises about what will happen next continued to flow.

But amid all of this political attention, we still haven't been shown the detailed delivery program that answers those basic questions.

That's what concerns me.

This isn't about Labor versus Liberal, Nationals, Greens, One Nation or anybody else.

I don't care which political party makes the promise. I want to know how they intend to deliver it.

Because announcing another hundred million dollars doesn't tell someone in regional Victoria whether the dangerous road they drive every day will be repaired next month, next year — or not at all.

More than 3,000 people at Parliament and 5,000+ people signing this petition should be enough to demonstrate that Victorians want more than announcements.

We want transparency.

We want priorities.

We want timelines.

We want measurable outcomes.

And we want accountability for the money being promised.

A funding announcement is not a delivery plan.
So to every politician now promising millions — or billions — to fix Victoria's roads:

Tell us what gets fixed. Tell us where. Tell us when. Tell us how the priorities are decided. And tell us how Victorians can hold you accountable for delivering it.

Until then, they're still just promises.
