Sidewalks on Phoenix Street and Washington Street

The Issue

Pedestrian safety considerations are insufficient on Phoenix and Washington Streets.  Sidewalks are installed on Vernon Street in Manchester, but end on the town of Vernon border. Pedestrians utilize Phoenix and Washington/Dobson to get to the Rails-to-Trails and to local stores. It is unsafe for our residents to walk on these busy roads without a sidewalk. We are proposing the installation of sidewalks on Phoenix Street from the Manchester town line to the Rails-to-Trails crossing and Washington Street from the existing sidewalk at the Dobson Road Rails-to-Trails crossing to the existing sidewalk on Lake Street.

This petition will be sent to the Vernon Town Council for consideration.  Additionally, a meeting will be set up with the Town Administrator and police to further discuss pedestrian safety options.
