An initiative to stop changing clocks will not be on the ballot in Montana this year. Comments from a state senator indicate that the federal law is what kept the bill from advancing:

"'[Staying on MST] would create too much havoc for a lot of people across the state,' he said.
"Officials noted Montana could not stay at daylight-saving time without federal approval. Standard time is in place from November to mid-March."
