Thank you for signing this petition.  My name is Karen Keavy.  I am an educator and counsellor who works with children who have experienced various forms of abuse and neglect.

Now more that at any time before, we need to ensure that our kids receive ongoing contemporary and comprehensive Protective Behaviours and Consent Education.  This learning is part of a child's overall development and wellbeing and sadly, due to various factors, the curriculum in schools that teaches this to our kids is not being delivered.

We are at a dangerous threshold right now in terms of the wellbeing and safety of our children.  The prevalence of online predatory behaviour targeting children, the availability of pornography that children are able to view so easily, and other forms of abuse and neglect including family and domestic violence, child sexual abuse and intrafamilial sexual abuse are at record levels and are increasing.   

If children aren't educated about what abuse is, how it happens, who does it, and what to do if it happens to them, they invariably believe that it's something that just "happens" and many will assume responsibility and blame themselves for it happening.

Our children desperately need your help.  Please sign this petition and share it amongst your friends.  Urgent action by concerned parents, relatives, friends, educators and other health and child safety professionals is needed if we are to create positive change for this generation of children.  Thank you.
