On the afternoon of Sunday August 10 the Abraxas party boat moored off Trafalgar Beach and Volunteer Park Beach for several hours blasting loud distorted “music” for everyone on the beach and in close proximity to have to suffer through. We could hear the noise from our balcony several blocks away. Noise carries over water.
I complained to the owner through his website getmyboat.com and this was his response “There are no noise bylaws on the ocean.”
This was my response.
“What an arrogant self entitled response.
Totally lacking in consideration of others.
I'll be sure to post your response on social media.
You know that the City has set guidelines for party boats that are based in Vancouver harbour.
So you think that your partiers can disturb everyone who lives in close proximity to the beaches as well as beach users for hours at a time whenever and wherever they want.
Btw this boat was in very close proximity to the Kits beaches that do have noise bylaws.
There was zero reason for that boat to be parked near Trafalgar beach for hours on a Sunday afternoon. It should be out cruising in the harbour away from the shore not parked on top of it disturbing the entire neighbourhood and beach go-ers. The fact that you don't give a is very telling and says a lot about you.
Shame.”
