Once again the party boats are terrorizing local residents this summer with their very loud music that can be heard by anyone living a few blocks from the shore in Kits, Point Grey, and the West End. Last year the City of Vancouver informed me that they are unwilling to take any action to turn down the party boat music in Vancouver Harbour. Basically their response was "it's not our department, it's the Feds, it's the Province etc. If you are impacted and want the City to act then please write to <gurv.brar@vancouver.ca> and the party boat owner <info@vancouvercruises.com> and let them know what you think.

Today, July 27, 2024, I emailed <info@vancouvercruises.com>, owner of The Abitibi in regards to their very loud party boat last night in Vancouver Harbour, and copied Gurv Brar, City of Vancouver.

"Once again your boat Abitibi was terrorizing Kitsilano and West End residents by blasting distorted loud amplified music for several hours last night. We could hear it from our 4th floor deck several blocks from shore, on 1st Ave W near Trafalgar Beach. The attached video was recorded at 10:27pm on July 26, 2024.

Talk about self entitled lack of consideration for local residents who can’t even sit out or leave their windows open without being forced to listen to this noise — just so you can make money and your party clients can have a bit of “fun”! Your so-called fun is at our expense.
Noise pollution is stressful and harmful to our health. Please have some respect for your neighbours and Vancouver residents. There is no need to have the music so loud. Please turn it way down, face your speakers away from the shore and go further out.
FYI sound carries far over water. Please read this article for some understanding of this scientific concept and how it can be so disturbing for others.
No secrets by the lakeside: how water affects sound.

I will be spreading this video on social video and once again requesting that the City curtail your business license.
