Today, it was announced that the majority of the open qualifiers for the Perfect World Counter-Strike 2 Shanghai Major 2024 have been removed, with Valve's regional rankings becoming the new metic for invitation/qualification. 

This means that teams, players, and fans, will no longer be able to witness teams make miracle runs to qualify for a major. These storylines are what make Counter Strike the best game on Earth, and by removing them, we are changing the fabric of this game's history for ever.

The fact that any group of 5 friends has the possibility to qualify for a major by upsetting the biggest teams in an open qualifier system has given us too many memorable moments to just remove. 

Let's not allow Counter Strike to become a closed circuit game. Let's not allow the crazy storylines to be taken away form us.
