Stand with ambos on March 4

Last year Victorians came out behind paramedics with incredible force. Together we managed to win a fair deal for Victoria’s ambos who serve our community. In so doing we helped bring down a first term government that did not respect our emergency services workers. This was an incredible victory, but unfortunately, the fight is not over. Last month Tony Abbott started a review designed to attack our rights at work. It confirmed what many have suspected for some time: big business and the Abbott Government are coming after weekend rates. Here’s the thing, Mr Abbott: people don’t stop getting sick because it’s after business hours. That’s why paramedics, like thousands of other Australians, work around the clock serving our community. But we have families too. Just like cleaners do, and nurses, and hospitality workers. And we deserve to be compensated fairly for the sacrifices we make for our jobs. That’s why on Wednesday 4 March paramedics will hit the streets to protest Tony Abbott’s attack on penalty rates. And we’re asking you to join us.
