The Phoenix artist community is diverse and powerful. Artists in Phoenix have worked collaboratively to change the landscape of our city- from murals, to the Warehouse District, to First Friday, to the Roosevelt Street light rail stop in the heart of the arts district, which you may recall didn’t exist in the first draft of the line.

Most recently, artists have united around a common demand for zero tolerance for racism and sexual harassment. In this light, the artist community- and the community at large- request to remove all the public art of the Fortoul Brothers, who are the focus of a recent community-wide discussion in which dozens of women have come forward to share their experience with Isaac Fortoul which ranges from rape to sexual harassment to misogyny to racist, belittling comments.

We are proud to share that many local institutions and businesses are re-evaluating their collaborations with Fortoul Art in light on these allegations.

Please join us in removing their artwork from our community and allowing victims to heal. Phoenix deserves better.
