Vaccinate Irish Teachers and SNAs
The Issue
Put pressure on the government to move teachers and SNAs higher up the vaccination priority list.
Irish teachers and SNAs are currently grouped as 11th on the provisional list.
Maintaining a social distance while teaching young pupils and those with additional needs is not always possible.
Extra protective measures (e.g. two masks, mask/visor combo or screens ) further impairs communication with pupils.
Teachers and SNAs are asking to be vaccinated alongside other workers who are at high risk of exposure.
Group 10 on the list are ‘Key workers in essential jobs who cannot avoid a high risk of exposure to COVID-19. They include workers in the food supply system, public and commercial transport and other vital services’.
Teachers and SNAs should, at the very least, be included in this group.
We want to avoid further disruption to our schools and communities. Please vaccinate teachers and SNAs .
