The Issue

Our theatre community is a second home for many of us, a place where creativity thrives and passions are cultivated. We've built connections that go beyond the stage, creating a family of like-minded individuals dedicated to the love of theatre. Unfortunately, our high school theatre journey is in jeopardy, and the experience dreams of our future thespians may be cut short. All of our students are being impacted by not being able to partake in theatre due to staffing issues.

Despite having a certificated theatre and English teacher who is passionate about helping young talents flourish, we are unable to utilize this invaluable resource. It doesn't have to be this way. Allowing this teacher to step into a role in theatre education will not only fill the staffing gap but also enhance the program with their expertise and energy. It's a practical and immediate solution to our problem.

The statistics are clear: involvement in theatre arts in schools correlates with higher student confidence, better academic performance, and stronger communication skills. Theatre is not just about acting, it fosters soft skills essential in every aspect of life. Removing this when we have a willing teacher ready to contribute is a disservice to developing our student's potential.

By signing this petition, you join us in advocating for a solution that is already at our disposal. We urge the school administration to recognize the importance of theatre in shaping well-rounded individuals and to appoint our certificated theatre teacher to guide our program. Let's ensure everyone passionate enough to take that leap on stage has the opportunity to do so. Please, sign our petition and help preserve the vibrant force that is our theatre community
