Sure, there are houses for sale 

The Median House price in March 2024 is $294,000

Minimum wage was just raised to much fanfare $15.30

The average income before taxes is $49,684

And even at $294,000 the mortgage for that house is $1809.99 (25 years at 5.590%)

Do you own that house? No, you rent it from the bank and at anytime if you miss the payment they take your house back. 

Housing has Skyrocketed here because of lack of supply, foreign investment, and corporations buying up stock. 

If housing is decoupled from the market conditions the city can ensure we house the residents at a reasonable rent and use the proceeds to buy more housing stock to house more people.
