For years, the Dairy Industry has tried to get the FDA to stop plant-based milk brands from being able to use the term milk, saying that it would confuse consumers and the "real" meaning of milk. The FDA has come back and said that plant-based milks don't try to pass for dairy milks and do not confuse consumers.

Consumers are getting smarter. Each year the plant-based foods industries grow as more and more people learn about the negative health, environmental, and farmed animal impacts of a diet heavy in meat and dairy.
