Hi Everyone, The bloodshed in Northern Syria -- where Turkey is killing Kurds, Christians, and other ethnic and religious minorities that fought alongside our troops in the battle against ISIS --continues today despite a supposed cease-fire that the Trump Admin was touting yesterday in exchange for revoking the sanctions they had imposed a couple of days ago. Turkey and their militias have already violated the cease-fire, despite the agreement catapulting to nearly all of Turkey's demands. Additionally, Amnesty International is reporting that Turkey is using chemical weapons to attack civilians in Syria.
There is still bipartisan legislation in Congress that will impose harsh sanctions on Turkey and is a necessary first step to hold Turkey accountable. The Senate bill is being led by Senators Lindsey Graham and Chris Van Hollen, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi is supporting similar measures in the House. Please call your Representative and Senators in their DC offices and tell Congress to act. We must not look the other way while Turkey kills our allies in Syria. We are also working with several Senate offices to send a bipartisan letter soon on behalf of the Kamran family and other Afghans and Iraqis who are left behind. Congress must act now to save our allies.
