USATF leadership repeatedly rewards athletes who have served bans with honors that exceed their legal return to competition, and this is undermining the efforts toward the future of clean sport. While athletes who have served bans should be afforded their right to compete under the current anti-doping rules, as well as treated with dignity, the privilege of national team coach, other leadership positions, and being chosen to represent the entire athlete body in marketing initiatives should be reserved for athletes with 100% clean anti-doping records. 

The appointed faces and voices that influence the current and future generations of athletes should be leaders in clean sport.
