Thank you all for your support. Please help get the word out and share on your network, on your local news FB and Twitter pages, Instagram, in comments on the articles. Anywhere and everywhere you can.
I started this petition because I've been a lover and supporter of the plight of the elephant for a long time. I've seen, first hand, what these elephant family units go through when they lose one of their own.
By stopping this ban, it's a way to send a message that the United States does not support the killing of this already low populated animal. Although it's hard to be precise, in 1800 there may have been 26 million elephants in Africa alone. As of August 2016, less than half a million roamed the continent, mostly in the southern states. In the west and the forested center, elephants are in a particularly perilous condition, with about 20,000 killed in 2015 and about 27,000 in 2016.
The photo above was taken at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Nairobi where the orphaned babies commune, heal, grow and have a chance at life in the wild once weaned.
Thanks, again, and keep on keepin' on.
