10/07/2021: Haaretz reports The "Israeli Army Identified Settler Who Shot at Palestinians With Soldier's Gun, but Did Nothing"

IDF's complicity in deadly settler violence against Palestinians is nothing new. The United Nations OCHA reported a "climate of impunity" where "settler violence continues to target pregnant women, young children and older persons." UNICEF has reported disproportionate harm to Palestinian children from acts including settler violence and displacement due to settlements. Medecins Sans Frontiers (Doctors Without Borders) reported in August 2021 the toll settler violence has taken on Palestinians.

In other news, Israel's Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked tells the United Arab Emirates news resource The National that the Israeli government rebukes the idea of a two state solution.

In 2014, Shaked called for genocide against Palestinians and was appointed Israel's justice minister by former PM Benjamin Netanyahu a year later.  

Shaked isn't the only member of the Israeli government who has incited genocide against Palestinians. Prime minister Neftali Bennette is quoted as saying "I've killed lots of Arabs in my life and there's no problem with that"

In early March, 2019, Netanyahu only proved Israel's status as an apartheid state as he declared Israel a "nation-state of the Jewish people and them alone." He referenced Israel's exclusionary Nation-State Law which does not recognize Palestinian's right to self-determination and normalizes expanding the war crime of illegal settlements. 

Following Netanyahu's dehumanizing remarks, the Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process reported to the UN General Assembly the "largest expansion of West Bank Settlements [war crimes] in 2 Years" had taken place between March 25, 2020 and June 10, 2020 

In May 2021, Benny Gantz vowed "Gaza will burn." The remarks coincided with a series of attacks launched by Israel that killed 256 Palestinians and injured 2000 more. At the West Bank, at least 26 were killed and 6,900 were injured according to the UN OCHA in May 2021 alone. 

The pattern of dehumanizing and genocidal rhetoric followed by violence and discrimination against the targeted Palestinian identity group is characteristic of genocide. See renown scholar Gregory H Stanton's stages of genocide.
