İzmir Urla’daki Gülbahçe Köyü’nün bol rüzgarlı sahili, yıllardır uçurtma sörfü (kitesurf) sporcularının ve bu sporu öğrenmek isteyenlerin denize ve rüzgara özgürce erişebildikleri bir buluşma alanı.  Ücretsiz olarak halkın kullanımına açık ve İzmir Valiliği İl Kültür ve Turizm Müdürlüğü tarafından ‘Uçurtma Sörfü Parkur Alanı’ ilan edilmiş bu sahilde tüm resmi izinlere ve uluslararası yeterliliğe sahip yedi uçurtma sörfü okulu bulunuyor. Okullarımızda 2015 yılından beri her yıl binlerce yeni uçurtma sörfü sporcusu yetişiyor; bu sporcular hem yurt içinde hem de yurt dışında profesyonel ve amatör müsabakalarda ülkemizi temsil ediyor.

Avrupa ve Türkiye’nin tek uçurtma sörfü parkını içinde bulunduran, ulusal ve uluslararası takımlarda yarışan yüzlerce profesyonel sporcunun antrenmanlarına, ‘Uluslararası Kiteboard Park Ligi’ gibi önemli yarışmaların Türkiye ayaklarına ev sahipliği yapan ve her sezon yerli ve yabancı binlerce ziyaretçi ağırlayan uçurtma sörfü alanı, hepimizin emekleriyle kısa sürede Türkiye’nin ve dünyanın önde gelen uçurtma sörfü merkezlerinden biri haline geldi.

2019 sezonunu bol rüzgarla açmayı ve daha çok kişiye uçurtma sörfü sporunu sevdirmeyi hayal ettiğimiz bu günlerde, hukuksuz bir şekilde sörf okullarını yıkmak ve herkesin ücretsiz kullanımına açık olan hazine arazisi statüsündeki bu sahile erişimi demir çitler çekerek engellemek isteyen ancak ellerinde resmi makamlardan alınmış hiçbir izin ya da belge olmayan kişilerin rant girişimi ile karşı karşıyayız.

Sörf okulları olarak hukuki süreci başlattık ve uçurtma sörfü sporuyla ilgili herkes adına takipçisiyiz. Çok geç olmadan bu haksızlığa karşı sesimizi duyurmak ve sahillere ücretsiz erişim hakkımızı korumak için sporu ve rüzgarı sevenler olarak hep beraber #UçurtmaSörfümeDokunma diyelim ve bu rant girişimini durduralım.

In Gulbahce, a village on the west coast of Turkey, next to Izmir, there is a free and public kitesurfing spot where people from all over Turkey and the world have been coming for years. It is an official kitesurfing beach, recognized as such by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and certified by the Turkish Sailing Federation. There are 7 official kitesurfing schools, all with national and international licences. Since the spot opened in 2015, there has been thousands of students and kiters, national and international athletes, who have been competing all over the world in professional and amateur competitions.

This beach as well has the only kite park in Europe, and hundreds of National and International athletes come to train here on the park, and compete for the  “International Kiteboarding Park League” competition that has been organized here, as well as lots of domestic events. The schools hosts thousands of foreign kiters, and in the short time the spot has been open, it is now one of the leading spots in Europe and the World.

This spring, while getting ready to open the 2019 season, hoping for plenty of wind and friends to share endless sessions on our home spot, some people without any official permissions or authority, tried to prevent free access to our little kite beach, to use us to earn unjustified “protection” money.

We have stopped them for this season and kept the access to our beach free to everyone, and started a legal process against them. We are no trying to let everyone know what is going on, and want to share our story with you. Let’s call it “Don’tTouchOurKites”, share our story to all the sports and beach lovers and stop this injustice and extortion attempt, and protect the free access to the coast for the future!
