The Issue

I stand before you as a concerned global citizen, deeply saddened by the rapid deforestation taking place in Telangana. Our government is idly watching as 400 acres of rich, verdant land are denuded, leaving countless animals homeless. These actions are not just affecting our local environment but are contributing to a global issue that threatens every life on our planet. It sends a terrifying message about how little we value our environment and the lives that depend on it.

According to the World Bank, forested lands of an equivalent size can absorb as much as 16 tons of atmospheric Carbon Dioxide annually. This indiscriminate deforestation is effectively removing our planet's natural Carbon Dioxide sink and exacerbating global warming. It's an alarming fact that these 400 acres of trees once protected us from 6,400 tons of Carbon Dioxide emissions every year. Simply put, our government's inaction against this deforestation is contributing to an increase in the concentration of global warming gases and thereby accelerating climate change (source: World Bank).

Alongside the environmental implications, it's also heart-breaking to see numerous animals losing their abodes, a consequence which will invariably disrupt the local ecosystem and potentially cause the extinction of certain species.

It's high time we educated ourselves, as Indians, about the dire consequences of these acts and how they invariably affect us. We cannot stand by and watch our environment being slowly murdered, as this sets a lethal precedent for future generations.

By signing this petition, you’re urging the government to take swift and decisive action against this ongoing environmental destruction in Telangana. We request immediate intervention in curbing deforestation and enhancing efforts to educate Indians about the importance of the environment.

Please join me in sending a strong signal to our government that we will no longer tolerate their inaction in preserving our environment. Sign the petition today. Your voice can make a difference.
