Community Petition in Support for Immediate Action Regarding Criminal Activity at Pike’s Pub

Date: May 31st, 2025

To:

  • Fort Wayne City Council

  • Allen County Board of Commissioners

  • Allen County Sheriff’s Department

  • Indiana Alcohol & Tobacco Commission

We, the undersigned residents, community members, and concerned citizens of Fort Wayne and Allen County, Indiana, submit this petition in response to a violent and alarming incident that took place at Pike’s Pub on the evening of May 30, 2025.

According to multiple eyewitnesses and preliminary reports, James Simmons was the victim of a vicious assault perpetrated by individuals believed to be affiliated with the Outlaw Bikers Club, a known motorcycle gang with a documented history of criminal activity. The incident involved acts of battery, aggravated battery, criminal recklessness, and may meet the criteria for a hate crime under Indiana law.

This act of targeted violence not only endangered the victim but created a serious threat to the public and raises deep concerns about ongoing criminal activity being enabled—or at minimum tolerated—on the premises of Pike’s Pub.

We stand by the following authorities to take immediate and coordinated action:

Fort Wayne City Council & Allen County Commissioners:

  • Convene or request a public hearing on the safety concerns surrounding Pike’s Pub.
  • Initiate or support zoning, nuisance, and licensing investigations into the property.
  • Consider formal action to declare Pike’s Pub a public nuisance under applicable municipal codes if warranted.

Allen County Shariff's Department:

  • Launch a comprehensive investigation into the May 30 assault on James Simmons.
  • Investigate the involvement of the Outlaw Bikers Club in this attack, including:

         - Identification and prosecution of all individuals responsible.

         - Examination of any pattern of intimidation, gang affiliation, or hate-based motivation

         - Surveillance and intelligence gathering on the gang’s activity in and around Pike’s Pub

         - Provide increased law enforcement visibility and response to deter future incidents in the area.

Indiana Alcohol & Tobacco Commission:

  • Open an immediate review of Pike’s Pub’s liquor license for potential violations, including:

         - Allowing known gang activity or violent conduct on premises

         - Failing to maintain a safe and orderly environment

         - Potential overservice of alcohol contributing to criminal behavior

We, the undersigned, formally support:

  1. A full criminal investigation into the May 30, 2025 assault on James Simmons.
  2. A focused investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department into the Outlaw Bikers Club's activities tied to Pike’s Pub.
  3. A compliance and licensing review of Pike’s Pub by the Indiana Alcohol & Tobacco Commission.
  4. Consideration of a suspension or permanent revocation of Pike’s Pub’s liquor license based on findings.
  5. Public communication and accountability regarding investigative outcomes.

This petition is about more than one incident, it is about defending the rights and safety of every resident in Fort Wayne. No individual or group should feel above the law. We thank you for acting swiftly, justly, and transparently.
