Petition to Dudley Council: Urgent Road Safety Measures for Church Road, Netherton & Holly Hall

We, the undersigned residents of Dudley, urgently call upon Dudley Council to take immediate action to improve road safety on Church Road — and to assess and address similar risks in other high-traffic or accident-prone areas across the borough.

Church Road has become a hotspot for reckless driving and excessive speeding. Numerous accidents have been reported, and near misses occur regularly. This dangerous environment poses a serious risk to pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists — especially vulnerable groups such as children, older adults, and individuals with disabilities.

No one should feel unsafe walking or driving through their own neighbourhood. Safety is not a luxury — it is a fundamental right.

We respectfully urge the Council to explore and implement effective safety interventions, including but not limited to:

• Speed-reducing infrastructure
• Red light and speed cameras to deter dangerous driving
• Protective pedestrian measures such as widened footpaths and barriers
• Improved signage and road markings to enhance visibility and awareness
• Community speed watch programs to empower local residents
