Dear Coronado Families,
I want to thank each of you for signing and sharing the petition, “Urgent Request for Action and Transparency Regarding Student Safety at Coronado Middle School.”
This afternoon, I formally sent our petition — representing 71 Coronado families — to Mr. Mueller, Ms. Falar, and the Coronado Unified School District Board, ahead of their 4 PM board meeting today. The message included our shared request for open dialogue, transparency, and concrete steps to ensure that every student at CMS feels safe and supported.
We respectfully urged the Board to:
- Hold a public community meeting to address parent concerns and answer questions.
- Publish a clear and updated safety plan with prevention, supervision, and reporting protocols.
- Improve communication with families regarding incidents and safety measures.
Increase visible supervision across school grounds. - Collaborate with parents who want to help create a more respectful and inclusive environment.
The email was sent with a full list of signatories and a formal letter expressing our collective concerns and our desire to work with the district toward solutions — not against them.
This is a first and important step. I’ll keep everyone informed once we hear back from the Board or receive confirmation of next actions. In the meantime, thank you for standing together and showing that our children’s safety truly matters to this community.
With gratitude and solidarity,
Parents of CUSD
