We, the residents/tenants/workers of New Town Kolkata (Action Area 1), are deeply concerned about the growing infrastructure issues in the area.

Our 5 Demands on New Town (AA-1D) Infrastructure Issues

✅Unmaintained roads and footpath
✅Unmaintained green verge and snake sightings
✅Non-functional street lights
✅Unregulated high fare of auto/toto for intra-area public transport
✅Unregulated dumping of construction debris along road side

Major 2 Demands on Balaka area

✅Frequent waterlogging due to canal issues ( Backflow from the Bagjola and feeder canals ) and blocked drainage system

✅Foul smell and garbage leachate from a vat that is located near residential area of Balaka

These issues are affecting daily life, safety, and the overall urban experience.

We are calling on the NKDA and Urban Development Ministry to:

1. Immediately audit the infrastructure status of AA1

2. Create a public plan with timelines for repair and upgrades

3. Improve and regulate public transport and pedestrian safety features
