Since the beginning of January, an incredible massacre of street dogs has started in Turkey.

Stray dogs have become the latest victims of the normalization process of violations against the right to life, directed against groups that are considered the lowest chain of the social hierarchy in the country. At this point, we see that dozens of stray dogs are pressed alive in the garbage collection vehicles of Konya's Akşehir district municipality.

Under the pretext of the aggressiveness of stray dogs, the state and municipalities are trying to reduce their numbers through methods such as ban on feeding strays and sending to shelters where the animals die a painful death out of severe negligence. Since these practices began, our consciences have been bleeding. Following the order for exterminating strays from the top of the state, which disregards all democratic processes, the practices of local institutions for this purpose have not been subjected to serious inspection . The sad picture below is only one of the proofs, and it is a dagger in the heart of millions of people.

With this petition, I ask that this barbaric practice be brought to the international platform and be a beacon of hope for the souls on the street.
