Dear Supporters of our Frant Road Safety campaign.
Back in April 2007, the Royal Tunbridge Wells Forum issued a call to action that resonates shockingly with our struggles today:
"We want to be able to walk safely around our neighbourhoods... for our children and elderly or disabled relatives to be able to do so too... [but] this town cannot cope with its growing volumes of road traffic and the strains they are putting on its infrastructure, its appearance and the quality of life."
Fast forward to today, and what has changed? The volume of traffic has not just persisted; it has significantly worsened. The compromises mentioned have become concessions, and the "root issues" have deepened, creating not just "disagreeable" but dangerous conditions for our community.
How long will it be until the vision of a walkable, safe, and pleasant Tunbridge Wells becomes a reality? How many more calls for a solution will go unanswered? It's been over a decade and a half, yet here we are, still advocating for those very same basic needs.
The time for compromise is over. We demand action, and we demand it now. Our quality of life and safety are non-negotiable.
Join us in calling for the change that was promised years ago. Because our community deserves the future that we were told to envision.
