Urgent Demand for the Removal of Abandoned 40-Foot Trailers on A53 and A41

Urgent Demand for the Removal of Abandoned 40-Foot Trailers on A53 and A41
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents, are writing to demand the immediate removal of three abandoned 40-foot trailers located on the A53 and A41 since September 2024. These deteriorating trailers pose serious safety and health risks, and despite growing public concern, no authority has taken responsibility for their removal.
The trailers pose several urgent issues, including but not limited to:
- Public Safety Risk: The trailers are breaking apart due to harsh winter conditions, with panels hanging off dangerously. One refrigerated trailer has a missing roof, exposing insulation and potentially hazardous materials.
Health Concerns: Given that one of the trailers is a refrigerated unit, there is concern over possible gas leaks or other hazardous emissions.
Traffic Hazard: The presence of these abandoned trailers along major routes increases the risk of accidents, endangering motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.
Despite these obvious dangers, Shropshire Council has stated it is waiting for legal advice before taking action. While the council debates the correct process and cost recovery, the risk to public safety continues to grow. Public safety must be the top priority. No bureaucratic delay is worth the cost of a human life.
We urge the council to take immediate action to remove the trailers without further delay. The cost estimates provided by the council appear inconsistent with published removal costs, and this issue must not be used as an excuse to delay necessary action.
Enough is enough. Cut the red tape. Remove the trailers now.
Please sign our petition below to send a message to Shropshire Council that we are deeply concerned about our safety and demand immediate action.
