“Love Unites." In solidarity with No Kings Movement, we resist President Trump's horrendous policies and actions by which democracy can be undermined. A courageous U.S. president elevates the work of the executive office by building relationships, demonstrating good character in leadership, exercising decisive power within constitutional constraints, and establishing precedents in public policy that strengthen democratic institutions.

The U.S. president is expressly charged to uphold the U.S. Constitution in areas such as building relationships with democratic institutions and policy-making. As the nation’s Chief Diplomat, the president must faithfully secure American interests, manage international relations, and maintain national security. As Commander-in-Chief, the president holds prime responsibility for the conduct of United States military forces. The president is responsible for the safety and security of the United States and its citizens, and also responsible for setting and executing U.S. foreign policy, which often actively involves seeking peaceful resolutions to conflicts through diplomacy and cooperation.

The Constitution’s Framers envisioned a presidency with a blend of decisive power and limited authority, carefully balanced against the legislative and judicial branches. These presidential qualities play a vital role in maintaining public confidence in our U.S. democracy and the president has a particular responsibility to lead with: care, compassion, courage, civility, empathy, wisdom, strength, integrity, humanity, bold vision, innovative ideas, good diplomacy, and a spirit of collaboration. 

The president should be a unifier: bring people together, foster strong relationships, collaborate with communities and leaders to serve the public good, negotiate with allies in good faith to increase possibilities for economic prosperity and mutually beneficial outcomes, build trust and more creative solutions through active community engagement, help resolve global conflicts and common problems through global cooperation, and engage in good decision-making that prioritize the well-being of ALL constituents in the United States of America.

Looking ahead, the president should be an effective communicator; finding common ground and seeking compromise where possible. Not beholden to politics, however, simply showing up in words and actions to help solve the nation’s problems and maintain the peace more broadly. For such an important job, we seek bold and visionary leadership. We want our president to respect democracy and rule of law, and to be an effective leader that listens to diverse voices and inspiring perspectives, and leading by example in cultivating an environment for positive change and respect of our shared responsibilities. In this call of duty, we need our president to be present, to engage in respectful discourse, and to create policies that improves the well-being of its people.
