Russia has approved a catch quota of 13 orcas to be taken from the Sea of Okhotsk for 2018. These captures will happen between July and September of 2018. Orcas will be hunted opportunistically and can be taken from any population that is most convenient and cost effective. Captured orcas will be sold into the growing aquatic theme park industry in China, Russia and Japan for breeding and public display.
