Compassion Crew, a collective of devoted citizen volunteers, is deeply committed to aiding families searching for their missing loved ones. Our endeavors are fueled by empathy, compassion, and a profound sense of community solidarity. The anguish and uncertainty that accompany the disappearance of a family member are immeasurable, and it is our mission to offer unwavering support throughout this trying time.

Our efforts encompass organizing search operations and amplifying awareness through social media, all with the singular goal of reuniting families with their missing members.

During our mission, we encountered numerous surveillance cameras installed by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) that are non-functional, rendering them ineffective and defeating their intended purpose.

The presence of operational CCTV cameras is vital for several reasons:

1. Crime Deterrence: Working cameras serve as a significant deterrent to criminal activity, as the possibility of being recorded makes the commission of illegal acts less appealing.
2. Peace of Mind: The knowledge that an area is under surveillance provides reassurance to the public and contributes to a sense of security
3. Evidence Collection: In the unfortunate event of a crime, CCTV footage is invaluable in identifying perpetrators and providing concrete evidence for legal proceedings
4. Community Safety: Functional cameras contribute to the overall safety of the community, helping to swiftly address and resolve incidents.

ACTION NEEDED

In light of these critical factors, we respectfully petition the Government of Karnataka to:

1. Initiate a thorough evaluation of all BBMP-installed surveillance cameras to ascertain their operational status.
2. Promptly repair or replace all defunct cameras with modern, high-performance models that ensure consistent and reliable surveillance.
3. Integrate these updated cameras with the Police Control Room, aligning with the Safe City Initiative for real-time monitoring and efficient incident response.
4. Implement a transparent and accountable maintenance regime to guarantee the sustained functionality of these surveillance systems.
