I live in a remote area where only a few towers provide adequate internet speed. I used to rely on the telephony section of the engineering mode in my Xiaomi phone to select the best network bands and optimize internet speeds. This changed with the hyperos upgrade, as the entire telephony section was inexplicably removed from all Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco phones; leaving me, and several others in a lurch.

Xiaomi is a leading technology company that caters to hundreds of millions of users worldwide; a considerable number of whom live in areas with unreliable network infrastructure, and who depend heavily on the engineering mode feature to maximize their internet potential. According to telecom tower density data, fewer than 9% of pathways in off-grid areas have signal coverage from all mobile network operators (source: GSMA Intelligence).

The removal of the telephony section has not only disrupted our daily lives but also affected our ability to work and learn effectively. Stripping away such a useful feature has not been beneficial to many of us who are in dire need of it.

We urge Xiaomi to listen to the needs of its users who seek reliability and efficiency even in challenging network scenarios. We request the re-enablement of the telephony section in the engineering mode on all Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco phones to provide a fair and reliable service.
