Today, I had my groceries delivered from Walmart and was shocked to receive 13 items packed into ten gray plastic bags. This excessive use of plastic is unacceptable and harmful to our environment. We rely on major retailers to make sustainable choices, and I believe Walmart can do better.

Plastic pollution is a severe global issue, contributing to environmental degradation and harming wildlife. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Americans generate more than 35 million tons of plastic waste annually, much of which ends up in landfills and oceans. The excessive use of plastic bags by companies like Walmart exacerbates this problem.

Walmart, being one of the largest retailers worldwide, has the opportunity and responsibility to lead in sustainable practices. By reducing the number of plastic bags used in deliveries, Walmart can significantly reduce its environmental impact and set an example for others.

There are alternative solutions available, such as using recyclable paper bags, encouraging reusable bags, or reducing the number of bags in deliveries. Implementing such changes can dramatically decrease plastic waste and benefit the environment immensely.
