UPDATE 06/02/2026

Just six months after our own radar was stolen, a further 16 radar units were confirmed as taken from VW Golfs in our North West London borough over the course of only a few nights. Some Owners are reporting it is their 2nd time....This highlights that radar theft remains a widespread and ongoing issue.

It is not "isolated incidences" as VW suggests it is....

Some good news at least; Some VW owners have reported that Volkswagen has recently begun taking a different approach and is now apparently offering customers up to a 70% discount on a replacement radar, provided a police crime reference number can be supplied.

While this is not a complete or acceptable solution, it does represent a small step in the right direction for owners who have been repeatedly let down by Volkswagen. The root cause of the problem — the poorly designed radar fitment that makes the unit quick and easy to steal — has still not been properly addressed. Until this design flaw is resolved, owners will continue to be exposed to repeated theft and unnecessary expense.
