I'm a concerned boater and I've seen an escalating issue that impacts our beloved boating community. There's an alarming and dangerous problem present on Otter Creek, near Rock Landing, that we urgently need to address - a rock ledge encroaching almost to the middle of the creek. This obstacle poses a grave danger to our navigational safety and as a result, more boaters are beginning to avoid visiting our beautiful city of Vergennes. 

Over the years, boats navigating this waterway have increased not only in size, but also in number. Regrettably, this uptick has seen a corresponding rise in serious incidents. It is critical that we protect our maritime safety and that of the community's visitors. Despite the increasing fears around navigating Otter Creek, no substantial action has been taken up to this point.

As a fervent supporter of boating safety, I am urging the city of Vergennes to install a navigation buoy in Otter Creek to mark this hazardous rock ledge. This action would not only ensure the safety of our boating community but also encourage more visitors to our city instead of pushing them away over avoidable safety concerns. The future of our navigable waterways is in our hands; let's safeguard it.
