Gina Caranos Appearance Goes Against Fan Expos Code of Conduct

I was just reading Fan Expos code of conduct, and thought it odd they would invite a guest who has gone against their own code of conduct, and where many supporters of Gina Carano are going against the code of conduct on their social media posts about her guest appearance: https://fanexpohq.com/fanexpovancouver/code-of-conduct/

Many of Gina’s supporters have been replying to those who oppose her being a guest by harassment, bullying, threats and making homophobic and transphobic comments. I saw people using the word “gay” as a negative adjective, in comments, and one Gina Carano supporter saying it was a good thing her being a guest as it would deter transgender people from going and therefore prevent “pedos” from being around children there. This was very transphobic and is part of the anti trans propaganda going around accusing transgender people for being pedophiles.

We need to urge Fan Expo to uphold their code of conduct for their celebrity guests and attendees, including possible attendees who are leaving harassing, bullying and threatening comments that go against their code of conduct where they say: “We do not tolerate violence, mistreatment, or any type of harassment towards staff, exhibitors, guests, or attendees at any of our events.”

Gina Ceranos comments made online, a few which are in this petition go against this part of Fan Expos code of conduct: “Safety, security & an open, inclusive, respectful environment with zero tolerance for misbehavior are fundamental to the show.” Why are they allowing a guest who goes directly against this?

Also many fans have reached out to Fan Expo with safety concerns and this is the reply they are getting back:

There is always a demand for our fans to bring the biggest names and entertainment and pop culture to our event. They are booked based on the popularity of their work within genres. This is not acceptable at all, and Fan Expo is not making their event a safe and inclusive place, and they are not upholding their own code of conduct. Please ask Fan Expo to uphold their code of conduct, and to make Fan Expo safe and inclusive for all as they claim they do, and to take the many fans safety concerns seriously. We have almost 1000 signatures on this petition now that show a lot of people are very concerned. Thank you everyone for signing.
