The Issue

The Call of Duty franchise, particularly Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2, is an iconic part of gaming history that has left an indelible mark on gamers worldwide. Released by Treyarch, these games introduced groundbreaking features, mesmerizing storylines, and provided countless hours of entertainment and competition to millions of players globally. These two iconic games have proven to be some of Treyarch's most successful ones, mostly due in part to its classic no nonsense formula, the classic multiplayer, and who couldnt forget the memories one made in zombies mode.

Over the course of time however, it is understandable that Call Of Duty had to go in a different direction, bringing fresh new ideas in order to not make things as stale. While some newer COD titles were well recieved by others, other COD titles were poorly received due in part to issues such as micro-transactions, cartoon skins, items that in short strayed Call Of Duty from its identity; making it almost unrecognizable and with most players feeling like their voices were not listened to.

So where are we today? When Black Ops 7 was released, PCGamer described it in their review in 2025 as "If Black Ops 7 has any identity of its own, it's from these setpiece moments, and they are far and away the worst parts of not only Black Ops 7, but the series as a whole. ..." (PCGamer 2025) PC Gamer Black Ops 7 Review. This and other reviews should be enough to Treyarch to say "What is happening now with Call Of Duty is not working". It was not until Treyarch approved the ports to the PS5 for Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 that we saw one clear message: The classic formula works, nothing goofy, nothing crazy, just the classics. And if everyone is enjoying the ports possibly more than Black Ops 7; then it is already obvious the path Treyarch should take:

To remaster two of their most iconic games for modern consoles and PC computers in its former glory for new hardware. Its not about disrespecting Treyarch's effort, but it is about them understanding that listening to the players is important.

Treyarch, the players will thank you; make it happen!
