Urge The Village Building Co. to Restore the Iconic Entry Sign at the Riverwood Estate

Urge The Village Building Co. to Restore the Iconic Entry Sign at the Riverwood Estate
The issue
The iconic sign at the entrance of the Riverwood Estate in Murrumba Downs, long cherished by residents and visitors alike, no longer greets us with its idyllic depiction of the lifestyle opportunity that Riverwood has to offer. Instead, its absence is a haunting reminder of the unspeakable act of vandalism inflicted upon it. This sign, with the river flowing next to the estate, beautifully symbolised the unique connection we share with the environment around us, and its loss has affected our community.
The Village Building Co. is in a position to restore this beloved feature, to bring back our cherished sign and reinstate this symbol of our community. We implore them to commission a new cut sign with the same graphic, thereby restoring the sense of charm and identity that once welcomed us home. Sadly the City of Moreton Bay Council have declared they do not have responsibility for the sign and do not want to help its residents.
Aside from the emotional resonance of the sign, its presence is directly linked to community pride and unity. A 2010 study found that community signs contribute to a sense of belonging and pride, which in turn nurtures communal spirit and unity (Symonds & Bell, 2010). In a period where community unity is needed more than ever, following the recent vandalism and other local crimes, the restoration of our sign can contribute to the healing process.
With your support, we can send a powerful message to The Village Building Co. about the importance of repairing the entry sign. Let's not allow an act of vandalism to permanently scar our beloved community. Sign this petition and join us in urging The Village Building Co. to restore the Riverwood Estate sign and preserve the identity of our cherished neighbourhood.
