UK government to call for an end to ALL Israeli occupation of Palestine
The Issue
This petition deeply resonates with not just me but several communities across the UK, as it should to everyone who values human rights, life, and dignity, irrespective of their background. As global citizens concerned about humanity that transcends borders, we must urge the UK government to use its diplomatic influence to call not only for a ceasefire & end to siege but to call for the end to OCCUPATION FULL STOP, this includes but is not limited to:
- Allowing Palestinians freedom of movement by ending the blockade Releasing over 7000 Palestinian hostages being held in Israeli prisons
- Giving Palestinians their human and civil rights
- Urge international Palestinian refuge programs
- Provide ongoing funding for rehabilitation and rebuilding of Gaza, not just for the humanitarian crisis
A call for ceasefire is NOT enough.
It is temporary and does NOT prevent further suffering of Palestinians.
The politicians are ONLY focused on a ceasefire and humanitarian aid access, without making any other demands to improve the lives of Palestinians in the aftermath. Ceasefires have happened year in and year out but have never put an end to the violent occupation of Palestine under Israel’s oppressive regime. If we only demand for a ceasefire, Palestinians will only return to their normal suffering and Israel will continue to oppress Palestinians over and over again as they have for decades. A ceasefire does NOT make a difference to Palestinians in the long run, it is only a short-term fix and by focusing on just a ceasefire, we distract from the wider issues at hand.
HOW MUCH LONGER? The world has begun to wake up to Palestine's reality, so we cannot lose the momentum and must call for a total end to the Israeli occupation.
Palestine is on the brink of absolute extinction from the face of the Earth, they are cut off from the outside world and are calling on every single member of the international community to step up and stand against the Israeli treatment of Palestinians and advocate for a better life for them right now and in the future.
Just in this recent escalation alone, there is a death toll of 6000 and counting with a significant number being children. 70% of victims are women, children and the elderly and 1.1. million Palestinians have lost their home, as announced by the United Nations. This does not even include the deaths earlier on in the year, and the 75 years prior to that.
The UK government holds a position of influence on the global stage, particularly within the United Nations. The U.N. security council has met twice just this one week about international resolutions proposed for a ceasefire and "humanitarian pauses" to allow aid in, with NO further demands about the future lives of Palestinians. UK ambassador Barbara Woodward has already failed to support a resolution for a ceasefire but these resolutions are NOT enough. A ceasefire is NOT enough. THE UK GOVERNMENT NEED TO DEMAND MORE FOR PALESTINIANS.
The lack of support for Palestine is not reflective of the values we hold as a nation committed to peacekeeping and human rights and we need action immediately. This cannot happen again and again.
This is not just about politics or just Palestinians, it is about our shared humanity and shared responsibility towards each other. If there has ever been a time to come together as one voice and urge our leaders to take action, it is now.
As not only citizens of the UK, but fellow humans we ask you to please join us in urging the UK government to take immediate action by advocating for an immediate end to Israeli occupation once and for all. GIVE PALESTINIANS THEIR RIGHTS AND FREEDOM!
Sign this petition today because Palestine has the world's attention and we cannot let it go to waste.
