Need some talking points to share with your networks about why retaining COLLECT is important?

• It’s a loan not a grant.
• It is interest-free.
• Monies are repaid to the government.
• The default rate has been incredibly low - less than 1% historically.
• It’s generated millions of dollars in sales since its inception.
• It targets Tasmanian living artists, i.e. directly supports income earning for contemporary artists in the state.
• It supports Tasmanian arts businesses around the state.
• The funds stay in Tasmania. Money goes to local artists and arts businesses, not to credit card companies or international online retailers.
• It provides affordable access to anyone to buy Tasmanian art.
• Sales have been. made to purchasers around Australia, promoting Tasmania’s brand.
• It needs ONE FTE clerical position to administer it.
• Further reducing Building Tasmania’s headcount by 1 FTE in this position will jeopardise COLLECT and all its benefits while making negligible difference to  required budget savings.
