** Close Captivity, Open Sanctuaries: End Animal Farms and Aquariums, Transform Them into Sanctuaries of Freedom:

We call for the closure of all animal farms and aquariums—including industrial fish farms and facilities like Sea Life Centre—and their transformation into sanctuaries rooted in compassion, ecological regeneration, and non-extractive care. These institutions, whether land-based or aquatic, perpetuate the commodification of sentient beings. From a strict vegan perspective, no animal should be bred, confined, or displayed for human consumption, entertainment, or profit.

Animal farms—whether for fish, cows, pigs, chickens, or others—are systems of captivity. They deny beings their autonomy, sever familial bonds, and reduce lives to units of production. These environments are incompatible with any ethical framework that recognizes animals as individuals with intrinsic worth.

Aquariums, often marketed as educational, are sites of profound suffering. Fish and marine beings are confined to tanks that are a fraction of their natural range. Sharks, for example, are apex swimmers designed to roam vast ocean territories. Yet in places like Sea Life Centre, they are often seen lying motionless on tank floors—a behavior that signals physical deterioration, depression, and sensory collapse. These beings are not meant to “sit down.” Their stillness is not rest—it is resignation.

Even wildlife safaris, while less restrictive than cages or tanks, still operate within a framework of human control and spectacle. True sanctuaries do not exploit. They restore. They offer refuge, not revenue.

We demand:

- The closure of all animal farms and aquariums that fail to meet strict vegan and ecological standards.
- The repurposing of these facilities into animal sanctuaries, fish sanctuaries, wetland restoration zones, and multispecies refuges.
- Public investment in sanctuary-based education that honors interspecies autonomy and ecological healing.
- Legal recognition of all animals—including fish and aquatic beings—as sentient individuals with the right to freedom from captivity.

Let us replace cages with corridors of care. Let us transform tanks into tidepools of healing. Let us honor every being—not as a spectacle, but as a sovereign life. Sign now to support a future of liberation, restoration, and radical compassion.
